It was my first time to ride an airplane...
First time to set foot on Luzon...
First time to spend for my own vacation...
First time to have a vacation without my family...
First time to set foot on Luzon...
First time to spend for my own vacation...
First time to have a vacation without my family...
A lot of firsts... I had a 7-day trip to Manila/Baguio and it was superduper fun! I've heard a lot of stories about Manila, it being polluted and other negative remarks, but the when I got there, it wasn't so bad...
Indeed, the place is very developed, with lots of buildings, roads, and establishments constructed and still being constructed. Condominiums and malls everywhere, it is a very progressive place, so different from Davao... The temperature's hot---as in HOTTER than HELL! Hehehe... That's what I didn't like there...
I had my share of having the Manila experience... SM Mall of Asia, Star City, Manila Ocean Park, and Malate bars are among the places I've visited. What I enjoyed most is the ice skating at SM Mall of Asia. Yeba!
Anyway, I wasn't that excited to frolic around Manila... What I was excited about is my Baguio trip...
Going to Baguio is a 6-hour ride from Manila. In that 6-hour ride, you'd pass by a lot of cities and provinces such as Pampanga, Tarlac, La Union, etc.
We did not have hotel reservations before going there.. But, it was not a problem at all.. Baguio's tourism office is so accommodating, greeting tourists and guests right at the terminal/bus station. Less than an hour after setting foot on Baguio, I fell in love with the place, and the people.
My 4-day stay in Baguio is the most stress-free period in my entire life! The cool weather just set my mood and it was a miracle that I did not get angry in that span of 4 days.... Hahaha! Believe me, it's because of the weather...
Although Baguio is a li'l crowded because of residents and tourists, I wouldn't mind staying there for good... (My dad would definitely kill me!)... I really wanted to stay there longer but I needed to go back to Manila to catch my flight back to Davao, and I kinda miss my family back home...
Time to go home... Manila greeted us with heavy rains and flood, not a good sign.. My stress level went up... Heavy traffic made it even worse. I swear I'm not going back to Manila... Huhuhu... And on top of it all, our flight back to Davao was delayed for two agonizing hours. (Super sad!)
Davao....
Finally, I was on my own bed... I looked back on my 7-day journey and can't help but laugh at myself for being such a brat in my vacation.. Hahaha! I wasn't a sport traveler when I was in Manila, although I did enjoy everything in Baguio... But anyway, I think that it was the best vacation ever! It brought out the best and worst in me... Hahaha! I learned a lot of things, not only about the places but also about myself. There's still much to improve on myself.. I'm such a brat... A big brat... My mood swings go haywire when the temperature's up. I don't have patience. I want things my way and I'm not that open to compromise. I hate to clean my room, I hate fixing my bed, and I hate washing my clothes!... Hahaha! It makes me think that I really love Davao because somebody cleans my room, fixes my bed, and washes my clothes... Such a brat! Hmpf!

I can't help but feel excitement while reading this post. I've been living here in Manila all my life and I haven't appreciated much like you do. Reading your post makes me realize how beautiful Manila is (despite of its polluted environment.)
ReplyDeleteYou're right, there's no place like home. We're almost the same. My mom also cooks for me and fixes my own room!
How great is it to be back home!
I hope you can visit Davao... It's not as progressive as Manila but our place looks nice too! =)
