Maintenance, medicines, and moisturizers, these are probably the things that you can see in every household, without exception. And this reminds me of dad's Aspilets and mom's Myra-E. Funny that these two are famous Unilab products that are available in our local market.
Maintenance comes from the root word "maintain" which, according to Merriam-Webster, means to cause (something) to exist or continue without changing; to keep (something) in good condition by making repairs, correcting problems, etc.; to continue having or doing (something).
We find it everywhere around us: we repair our house, our car, our faucet; we change bulbs, change tires, trim our lawns; we repaint, refurbish, refill. And on a personal level, we eat. We wash our face, we drink vitamins, we use moisturizers, all for maintenance. And when we become old, or as we might have observed from our parents or grandparents, they take one, two, or three pills for maintenance.
About 5 years ago, my father suffered transient ischemic attack. The doctor prescribed Aspirin to be taken daily. And dad's choice is of course, Aspilet, which is probably the most famous Aspirin in the whole world. Dad was also diagnosed with Diabetes, and was required to inject insulin daily. These medicines are all for maintenance.
I used to remember mom having a lot of makeup when she was younger. Me and my sister would play with her blushes and eye shadows. But what we did not know while we were young is that mom has also been using moisturizers for her face. She might have tried hundreds of moisturizers before but now, she's quite comfortable with her current choice: Myra-E.
Now while we are talking about maintenance for our body, we should also take steps in keeping our brain in its top shape. And that's why I'm blogging. Blogging keeps me sane, it gives my thoughts a venue for them to freely flow. Blogging is part of my maintenance.
