JCI Duwaling | UNMDG | Globe Telecom

There's something I badly want to share to you about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals or UNMDG. I have found a ready to print file for a bookmark enumerating about the UNMDG and I wasted no time in having those bookmarks printed. I figured that it would be great to distribute those bookmarks on JCI Duwaling's General Membership Meeting for January 2014. The GMM was scheduled last January 17 and this is the photo of the bookmarks that I made for that occasion:

I also printed a bookmark with the JCI Creed, Mission, and Vision to remind our members about the tenets that we must live by in order to become active citizens. The UNMDG bookmark is also a very good way to remind members about the projects that we must focus for this year.

It was so timely that I read about the press release of Globe Telecom last January 18. I was so happy to know that Globe also supports the UNMDG. Under the Philippines millennium development goal, the country is tasked to reduce its MMR by three quarters by 2015. Latest data revealed 221 deaths per 100,000 live births. With this goal, Globe has donated P1Million worth of prepaid load and 200 units of cellular phones to the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the provision of quality health services to mothers and their newborn children particularly those in geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas.

The donation will be used for the Real-time Community Health and Information Tracking System or rChits which was initially launched in 10 off-grid areas to aid in information management and treatment response efficiency. Globe is the official telecom and ICT partner of the rChits program led by UNESCO, Australian Aid, and UP Manila National Telehealth Center. And to make this news more interesting, Davao City is actually one of the first few locations where rChits was initially launched.
