Online Shopping

I had a paypal account since 2007. I did not have any activity except for the $1 bonus from Paypal's Wishlist Promotion on January of last year. So basically, my paypal account was just sleeping for 3 years.

Everything changed recently when I got active into blogging again. I chose to course my online earnings through Paypal lest the temptation of spending it right away when cash is directly credited to my bank account. If you're using Paypal, there would be no transaction fees if you transfer an amount equal to P7,000.00 or higher. If you withdraw an amount lesser than P7,000.00, you will be charged with P50.00.

And so when cash poured in, temptation always has its way of finding me. What can my poor soul do?

I just purchased 5 clothes online. They're really very nice based on the photos posted on the seller's website. And they're very affordable, too. But bear in mind that even with affordable shopping, there would always be SHIPPING. And shipping costs are high. The shipping cost I paid for this first online purchase was about 42% of my total bill. Wow!

Good luck to online shopping!

Scrub suits

Why are nursing uniform for students always white? If I had been a nursing student, I would be very concerned of how to hide my panty line since I would be wearing white. But students now are not at all concerned about that, and some of them have even considered it fashionable to wear colorful underwear underneath the white uniform. I wonder if it's alright with their schools.

I find it innovative and original that Blue Sky Scrubs has a line of scrub clothing for kids. I haven't seen a kid in a scrub suit but it would be very fun and cute to see one, and dressing your kid in a scrub suit is a statement on its own. When I look at nurses in their nursing scrubs, I wonder how they feel. Blue Sky promises weave of fashion and comfort in their products.

Fashion is never lost even in the medical world. My sister is one living proof of it. She always updates her clothing even if her new dresses would just be hidden under her medical coat.

H.I.

Back in my elementary and high school days, the term H. I. is always heard on the campus. Why? Because my school is also a school for the Hearing Impaired, these students may either be deaf-mutes or just suffering from hearing loss. I may be a little deaf but I don't belong to the hearing impaired sequence, fyi.

By the way, I studied in Davao City Special School (SPED), as it was called back then. It is home to both regular students and students with learning disabilities, like the hearing impaired as I have mentioned.

One day, at school, there was a program specially attended by the H. I. students. I was intrigued by that specially since that they don't usually hold programs like that since these students cannot hear. I later found out that there has been some grant given to the H. I. students: Lingkod Bayan (spearheaded by Mel Tiangco) gave the H. I. students with hearing aids. It was such a big help for them specially since SPED is a public school and most students enrolled there (specially those with learning disabilities) could not afford to buy hearing aids.

Before, hearing aids were bulky, unlike the new and improved models out in the market today. Today, we have "invisible" hearing aid models. One particular provider of hearing aids which is based in the United States, Miracle Ear, offers free hearing test. There is also a bunch of information which can help you make a self-evaluation of whether you are experiencing hearing loss and the things you need to do about it.

Diamonds, anyone?

Last weekend, I saw this documentary by Maki Pulido about her Caribbean Tour on QTV. I am not much of a tv person but talking about travel got a lot of attention to me. I later on learned that such show was first aired on 2008 and it was just a replay.

It was such an interesting show. It showed the culture of the different islands forming the Caribbean. There was this particular island where dozens of diamond shops line in their streets. Maki went to a particular diamond shop and was showed by the storekeeper with a 3-carat diamond ring. The ring was actually composed of a bigger 1.5 carat diamond stone and several other small diamonds which sum up the total 3-carat value.

When the storekeeper was asked about the price of the diamond ring, it costs $9,000. Wonder how it costs now? Maki said, "Since I cannot afford it, can i just wear it?" It was funny and the storekeeper was laughing but she let Maki wear the diamond ring and it was beautiful. Diamonds are good investment, as with other jewelry. You can start investing with smaller diamonds, the .50 carat diamond price right now is about P30,000.00 the 1.5 carat diamond ring, platinum, price is about P40,000 but the price could go up and if you want bigger investment, a 1.5 carat black diamond ring cost about P50,000.

Aside from the interesting diamonds shown in Maki's Caribbean Tour, there were also lots of beaches. Of course, who wouldn't want beaches? Their beaches are really really beautiful, I wish I could go there someday. But Maki's opinion about it was rather surprising, she said that Filipinos are hard to please when it comes to beaches because we have beaches in our country. Truly, we have several beautiful beaches here and the ones which are most beautiful are those which have not yet been developed, like Dahican in Mati, Davao Oriental. There was also this scene about Maki buying coconut, a familiar scene in Philippine streets. Another interesting, yet heart-pounding, thing you can do in the Caribbean is feeding sting rays. Now, I don't think I could do that.
